Guy with High Top Fade: Hey are you going to use that pencil?

Radical Girl: Is he asking me?

Guy with High Top Fade: Hey there, are you going to use that pencil?

Radical Girl: Yeah it’s my drawing pencil

Guy with High Top Fade: Really you draw? You’re an artist?

Radical Girl: (while pulling out a pencil for him) Yeah I’m an Artist

Guy with High Top Fade: Thanks I need this to take a test. So you’re really an artist? (then starts to walk away backwards)

Radical Girl: Yeah. I’m really an artist.

Guy with High Top Fade: Cool. If I see you again I want to talk to you about drawing and stuff.

Radical Girl: OK, bye.

Not long ago I used to hesitate to admit I was an artist. I didn’t have much confidence. But God made me an artist. It’s an integral part of who I am. No matter how I feel about my skill level or even my actual skill level, it doesn’t change the fact that I am an artist. So rather than be run by my feelings, I have chosen to start BELIEVING and DEMONSTRATING that I am an artist because that is who God made me to be. I’m thankful for this. I’m also grateful that for the FIRST time when someone mentioned drawing my immediate response wasn’t “I can’t draw” or “I’m not that type of artist.” Apparently I can draw, I just didn’t realize it because of all the years of comparing myself to others and lies I chose to believe about me. Like any negative mindset it takes a while to retrain your brain to align with God’s Word and not the world but by God’s power it can and will be done. And I hope you know He will do it for you too.
